Pipa has one of the most varied lineups in Northeast Brazil. With beaches for every level — from absolute beginners to experienced surfers — the red cliffs make every session even more special.

Praia do Madeiro — Beginners

The perfect starting point for those learning to surf. Gentle, long, well-formed waves ideal for practicing the pop-up. Sandy bottom reduces injury risk. Surf schools offer daily lessons. Best period: September to March.

Praia do Amor — Intermediate

A step up from Madeiro. More powerful waves with irregular formation breaking closer to the cliffs — requiring more ocean reading and positioning. For those who can already catch waves consistently and want to improve technique.

Praia do Lajao — Intermediate

Less well-known but consistent intermediate waves. Harder access — by buggy at low tide or via hiking trail. Mixed sand-and-rock bottom requires care. Big advantage: far fewer people in the lineup.

Praia do Abacate — Advanced

Pipa's most technically challenging spot. More powerful waves, irregular bottom, restricted access. Not recommended without someone who knows the spot and solid open-ocean experience.

Praia de Cacimbinhas — Intermediate

Intermediate-quality waves with one of the area's most preserved landscapes. Sandy bottom, harder access (3.8 km from the village), very few people in the lineup. One of Pipa's best options for intermediates wanting more space.
