Praia do Madeiro is the favourite of those who want a beach with structure, atmosphere and nature all at once. Just 8 minutes by car from Pipa's main strip (2.6 km), it combines the best of several worlds: accessible surf for beginners, bars with music and fresh seafood, stunning natural pools and sea turtle sightings at certain times of year.
Beginner Surf at Madeiro
Madeiro's waves are gentler and more predictable than other Pipa beaches, making it the ideal spot for those learning to surf. Surf schools run daily lessons from around R$80–100 per session including board and rash guard. The sandy bottom adds safety for beginners. September to March is the best period for consistent waves.
Lively Beach Bars
Praia do Madeiro has some of the most celebrated beach bars on the Potigar coast. With music, caipirinhas and the freshest seafood, spending a day at one of these bars is one of Pipa's most enjoyable experiences. Arrive early to secure a shaded spot — they fill up fast in summer.
Natural Pools
At low tide, the rocks bordering the beach form natural pools of crystal-clear water — perfect for children and anyone wanting to swim without waves. The phenomenon is most reliable November to March.
Sea Turtles
Madeiro is a monitored sea turtle nesting area managed by the TAMAR project. December to March you may witness hatchlings returning to the sea. TAMAR organizes free monitored outings when active nests are present.
